Key Points of Course - Level 2

Equipment employed, including:

  • Your ability to understand the various types and the functions of standard equipment.
  • To see portable and stationary, automatic and manual types of equipment, application and use including bridges and manipulators and various transducers for A, B and C scan systems.

Test Systems:

  • Information for general Theory of through and reflected transmission principles, single and double, straight and angle transducers. Couplants and wedges/shoes with basic knowledge of the cathode ray tube and screen displays and controls.

Testing Techniques:

  • Only the two basic techniques of Contact and Immersion are required and used for this Level 2 course. The Phased Array Technique is provided for information purposes only.

Procedure:

  • Calibration requirements and methods with various blocks, steps and meters used. Reference standards and their vital role in Ultrasonic testing for industry needs.

Evaluation Techniques and Standards:

  • Discontinuity and Defect identification including some sizing and location factors and object appraisal. The use of industry standards and their applicability to the test method.
  •
